As you may have noticed, whenever an email is sent in hotmail, an advertisement along the lines of:

Check out The Great Australian Pay Check now Want to know what your boss is paid?

is appended to the message. I have looked through the settings but can't find anything to disable this. Not that I normally use Hotmail (I prefer gmail), it seems that there is no way for this to be disabled in what I would consider an invasive advertisement technique.

Is there any way to disable this behaviour?

This is indeed very invasive, and for me personally a reason NOT to use their service anymore. There are enough free email services (e.g. gmail) which don't use invasive advertising like that. – fretje Nov 16 '09 at 13:37

I use gmail as my main email service, I only use hotmail because it works with the msn messenger and sometimes people send me emails through my hotmail. But google talk is pretty fantastic, only not enough people know about/ use it. – Jonno_FTW Nov 16 '09 at 15:19

As for your "I normally use gmail, but I like multiple email addresses" you might want to read about Gmail's aliases aka "plus addressing": mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12096 – Arjan Nov 17 '09 at 12:29

According to this answer on their official forum, posted by a moderator, it seems that this advertisement at the end of mails is a part of their free offer.

The only way to get rid of it is to subscribe to their upgraded service.

Yeah, Windows is being challenged by Linux with Ubuntu and Xuntu and other Open Source programs. In a few years they will overtake. Hotmail too will way to Gmail soon. Just as Intel is to AMD. We users must jointly support the under dogs, as a matter of principle. Thank you.

Use a non-free, non-ad-supported e-mail service.

Sometimes it's better to say nothing than just say "you are silly to use it don't use it". The question is about hotmail, if you don't have an answer for hotmail, just ignore it. – Gnoupi Nov 16 '09 at 13:31

Also: there are free e-mail services which don't just include ads in your mail! – fretje Nov 16 '09 at 13:32
