My moms Dell computer loads up to the desktop and then freezes as if it doesn't have enough RAM to process any commands. it doesn't blue screen at all and I don't see any memory leakage going on but then again I can't load up anything unless I'm in safe mode. could this be a RAM issue or could it be a system file corrupt or potentially a virus?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

She has 4gigs of ddr2 800 and the rest of the specs I can't lookup until she's off work.

Disable all start-up programs. This sounds like you have an cryptocurrency malware infection ( Bitcoins and Litecoins use CPU, Memory, and GPU resources ). –  Ramhound Feb 7 at 19:26
