My HP LaserJet 4240n keeps printing 2 blank pages before every print job.

So if you try to print a page from Microsoft Word and it's a one page document, it will print 3 pages -- 2 blank and 1 real page with ink. It will also do this from a PDF and from Wxcel. I have a feeling that this has to do with the printer and not the applications (NOT sure).

I am using Windows 7 (64-Bit)

Printer: HP LaserJet 4240n
Driver installed: Universal Print Driver PCL 6 (printer-specific driver not available on the HP site).
I have also updated the firmware which didn't fix problem.

Does it if you print an actual Windows "Test page" for the printer properties? Does the printer's self-test print out work as expected? Does switching to the PCL5 or PS versions of the UPD help any? If you just pick an older standard HP driver (say the HP 5L) does it still do it? –  Ƭᴇcʜιᴇ007 Feb 11 '14 at 17:27
