Possible Duplicate:
Recover data from SD card

My G1 crashed recently and I had to remove the battery. On rebooting it complained the SD card was damaged and offered to format it for me. I have plugged the SD card into both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux 9.04 trying to see if I could read it but I can't.

Is there a magic solution or do I just lose my pictures e.t.c. I'll cry if I lose my pictures.

Try running a file recovery app like GetDataBack on the SD card (while its plugged into a PC).

Although GDB's a commercial app the free demo version will scan the drive and let you know whether it can recover the files, you only need the paid version to actually recover them.

on your windows box, use Recuva, it recovers files deleted from your Windows computer, Recycle Bin, digital camera card, or MP3 player.

Recuva is freeware, a portable version is a available here.
