I have a Debian Linux laptop connected to an LCD monitor via HDMI. Every so often, when I am connected to a console (as opposed to an X-Windows session), the last three lines are hidden off the bottom of the screen. If I look at the laptop's display I can see the lines, but I cannot see the lines on the external LDC monitor

If I reboot the laptop, the all the lines on the console show up again, but I don't want to reboot every time this happens.

How can I reset the console so that I can see all the lines again?
