Installed py2app 0.8 on a current MacOS X mavericks. It mostly went fine except grumbling about altgraph. I tried this anyway.

py2applet --make-setup pong.py

and I get this .........................................................................................

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/local/bin/py2applet", line 5, in <module>
    from pkg_resources import load_entry_point
  File "/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/Extras/lib/python/pkg_resources.py", line 2607, in <module>

pkg_resources.VersionConflict: (altgraph 0.10.1 (/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/Extras/lib/python), Requirement.parse('altgraph>=0.11'))

.........................................................................................

It seems there is more than just an altgraph incompatibility. I looked here: /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/ and there is no Extras folder(as indicated by the output above). Was py2app supposed to install it there?

I did notice that py2app did add a couple of folders to the 'regular' macintosh python folder, site-packages:

/System/Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/py2app-0.8-py2.7.egg

/System/Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/modulegraph-0.11-py2.7.egg

as well as this file

easy-install.pth

Can someone enlighten me on getting py2app installed and working?

Thank you.

I heard back from the developer of py2app,ronald oussoren. He said to try "easy_install -U altgraph" before trying to install py2app itself.That works, indicating there's a dependency problem in one of the py2app packages. –  aquagremlin Mar 14 at 23:40
