I wonder, what does Windows Update do if a driver is already found to be installed in the PC (by another source like manufacturers page)?

Does it skip them automatically? Or does it reinstall them?

For example, Windows Update having graphics drivers but already having them installed by manufacturer's webpage drivers.

Also, which one is recommended to have? Or it just doesn't matter?

If a device already has a driver, Windows doesn't even check Windows Update for a driver, there is no reason the driver is already installed. You should install the driver you want to install. –  Ramhound Mar 14 '14 at 13:23
