I have a simple wireless home network. My base computer runs Vista and has an Epson Stylus Photo R200 printer USB connected to it. My laptop runs Win 8.1. The printer is shared on the network. When I try to add it to my laptop I'm told that there is no driver available for that printer. When I visit Epson's website to download the appropriate driver the following message appears:

Description: Windows 8 drivers for this product are installed automatically when you power-on and connect your printer to your Windows 8 computer.

Try plugging it in directly to the printer so that the hardware is recognized and the driver is installed... Then try it as a networked printer –  BrianAdkins Mar 24 '14 at 2:18
