Server: Ubuntu 12.04 / Client: Ubuntu 12.10

I have a strange phenomenon when using SSH with X11 forwarding:

If I directly call for example xclock with this command then it works and xclock shows up in a separate window:

ssh -X user@host xclock

But if I sign in first with

ssh -X user@host

and then want to start xclock on the console of the host xclock seems to start (blinking cursor without any messages) but I do not see the clock in a new window.

The same is true with another software.

However, the software "cheese" does not work for both variants...
