I am using win server 2003 r2 with updates as my workstation(web development, win development, sometimes gaming). Can I use windows sever 2008 r2 for these purposes? What about performance, gaming, development, themes and so on on the same machine? Thanks | |||

I use W2K8 R2 as my desktop. Performance and stability are good, but I don't have any metrics. I wrote a little article about how to enable W2K8 R2 Themes so you get the Windows 7 effects. Overall I am pleased, no obvious drawbacks. Incidentally, I also used W2K3 R2 as my previous desktop, but that was some time ago so I cannot really focus on improvements. | |||
