At some point in the past, Google Chrome seems to have switched from loading new tabs immediately to loading them only when you select them.

There are probably some system response time benefits to doing this, but I find it annoying to get done with one page, switch to the next, and then have to wait for it even though I opened it a long time ago.

Is there a way to turn this behavior off, and go back to the old way of loading the tab right away?

What version of Chrome do you have? I haven't witnessed this behaviour myself. Do you have any extensions installed that could be causing this? –  Garrulinae May 5 at 12:52
