i am trying to implement a matlab routine, that would checkout (or export, even better) a subset of files and folders from a repository at a specific revision.

eg. i have a repo structure which looks like that:

  • Models (with folder 1, 2, 3)
  • externals
  • modules
  • documentation
  • testing
  • ...

but what i want to check out is:

  • models/folder1
  • models/folder3
  • modules

any clue how i can implement this?

In Tortoise in the checkout dialog box, one has the option to choose the items that should be checked out. I kinda what to rebuild this with dos commands.

so far I tried this:

dos('svn checkout -r 123 <list of N source directories> <list of N target direcotries');

but this takes quiet a while, plus it cannot handle svn:externals.

I think there is an easy why to do that, but i can't figure it out.

I don't understand your comment, "plus it cannot handle svn:externals". There should be nothing about your method that makes externals not work. In what way do externals not work with this method? Also it looks like svn checkout can take N source directories, but it only takes one target directory. Is "list of N target directories" a typo? –  Ben May 19 '14 at 11:59
