As an in-browser-app google wave seems rather slow at times. Are there any wave clients that run natively (if not cross-platform, then linux, please) ?

There is an Adobe Air based application called Waver (Linux | Mac | Windows )

Google provides a very primitive text-mode console client as an example. However, it can't be used to connect to the Google Wave server yet, you'll have to set up your own server to try it.

As of now it seems there's no Google Wave Desktop notifier, as a native app for Linux. There is one, however

The first 2 are only notifiers. Duplicate Answer was given here: superuser.com/questions/74406/… – ricbax Nov 27 '09 at 4:52
