Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. It's 100% free, no registration required.

my 1TB Hitachi hard drive will not be detected within the window 7 and windows 8 installation (running of a USB) but if I browse for the hard drive it is the there set as C: but if I select it the following message is displayed:

"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK"

I do not not know what has gone wrong. Also I have formatted the hard drive recently so it is clean.

It is obviously being detected by my computer because the bios and windows can find it but it like it doesn't recognize for the installation.

If you would help and give the answer I would appreciate it. I will end up taking it to a shop to fix the problem but I would rather not spend money on a annoying error.

Have you made any progress on this? I have the same issue with a different hard drive. –  dyesdyes Mar 9 at 21:03
