How do I disable the nag balloon that comes up on the task bar from time to time?

Install some anti-virus software? – ChrisF Dec 5 '09 at 21:57
What if you don't fancy the constant performance overhead for something unlikely to ever help you? – Phoshi Dec 5 '09 at 22:14
Just use an anti-virus product that doesn't eat up that much performance. Or set up your anti-virus product to not eat up that much performance... – Wim ten Brink Dec 5 '09 at 22:18
There is no AV product that doesn't eat up performance. – Phoshi Dec 5 '09 at 22:29

Install an anti-virus program.

This would be the best solution in my opinion. :-) – Wim ten Brink Dec 5 '09 at 22:16
giving in to the nagging makes the warning go away alright, but it does not 'disable' it. :) – Molly7244 Dec 5 '09 at 22:20
@Molly: Which is why I upvoted your answer. – Macha Dec 5 '09 at 22:21

Disable the 'Windows Security Center' service, in services.msc
