Whenever I try burning a dvd using Nero Express 9, the process fails and I noticed every time it says "Invalid Block Address". I have tried googling it, but no luck so far. One suggestion said to check if DMA is on. In my case it is on, but doesn't seem to matter. Burning fails every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In case it matters, I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. I am going to check if that could be the culprit.

to rule out faulty hardware, burn a disc with another program, e.g. with InfraRecorder (free & portable): infrarecorder.org – Molly7244 Dec 6 '09 at 18:54
when does the failure occur? at the beginning of the burn? at the very end? somewhere in the middle? – quack quixote Dec 6 '09 at 18:54

Many people report that Kaspersky has to be paused when burning.

Other possibilities include:

  • Trying to burn at higher speed than the max for the burner
  • Enabling (or disabling) the DMA
  • Burning from another hard disk (either because it's a faster disk or less fragmented)
  • Hardware problems: Bad burner cable, bad burner drive etc.

Indeed it was Kaspersky! And I was not the only one, there is a whole topic full with people complaining about it: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=100517

So, the solution that worked for me is to simply pause Kaspersky protection while burning a DVD.
