Is it possible to set Google Reader as the default feed reader on Safari and/or Mac OS X so that when I open an RSS in Safari I'm redirected to Google Reader like it does in Firefox when you set it appropriately? How?

GROSX is now (apparently) dead and has been replaced by Reader Notifier.

Download and install the app, then, in Safaris preferences under the RSS tab choose Reader Notifier as the default RSS reader. You may have to browse into your Applications folder to find it.

Input your Google Reader credentials in the Reader Notifier preferences.

After that, when you click on a feed subscribe button in Safari, Presto! Google Reader opens.

Im pretty sure this is what your after

GROSX (Google Reader for Mac OS X) integrates Google Reader with Mac OS X by making it the default feed reader, announcing new items through Growl, and by providing easy access and preview from the menu bar. More options for treating certain Google Reader in certain ways and possibly better preview organization could improve GROSX even further.

The Reader Notifier site is dead (domain expired). Here's the Google Code project:

http://code.google.com/p/readernotifier/

In Safari 5 it looks like you can now choose from a number of different RSS readers including Google, Bloglines, Mail, My Yahoo and Safari. I'm assuming this is new, as I've never noticed it before. Go to preferences, choose the RSS tab and the first option is the one you want.
