What is the best configuration to buy a PC for Web Design work? I need more speed in file saving , opening and in multitasking.?

If i buy a Laptop can i feel same like PC or PC is best for web design? IF i'm out of my home then i can't do any professional work on LAPTOP (if i buy) I will only use to check email.

Does laptop has any benefit over PC other than portability.

If you're doing the graphics yourself, you may want a bit more processing power for Photoshop as well.

For optimal file access speeds, you'd want to look into solid state drives. Intel's X-25M is a decent mainstream buy if you don't want to go overboard, but still avoid JMicron controllers.

You don't really need an amazing CPU for web development, but you probably want some kick to it, so I'd grab an entry level dual or quad core CPU.

If the only benefit of the laptop for you will be checking emails, then I wouldn't get it personally. A desktop can be easily upgraded (especially if custom built, then warranties aren't a huge concern) as opposed to laptops where you commonly need to order special parts. I'd opt for the desktop machine.

and one more thing i can't work well with Laptop mousepad espically with photoshop selection. – metal gear solid Dec 11 '09 at 4:38
You can just use a USB mouse with your laptop. – Joe Internet Dec 11 '09 at 6:40
Or a Bluetooth mouse, but I would avoid a 2.4 ghz wireless mouse, as more times than not, they have bad latency. – AttackingHobo Oct 21 '10 at 21:38

If you'll be doing websites I suppose at some point you'll have to go visit a customer to discuss design details, show demos, etc. Please do yourself a favour and buy a laptop. To work you won't care much about the hardware: nowadays hard drive speed are negligible for the kind of job you have in mind. Just buy a large monitor, keyboard, mouse, and you're set to go.

I work at a web design company and I can tell you that while we all know Mac and PC, the designers prefer Mac. They also like to use a decent laptop for portability but keep a larger monitor at their desks for detailed work. Bring the laptop to show your work for a client, but use the monitor for a larger, whole-page view of a website.
