My mother is trying to learn how to use her computer better(she knows how to do basic things like check her GMail account, check the news, and compose very basic documents). While I try to help her out where I can, she really needs a set of tutorials. She unfortunately doesn't like to learn by tinkering.

Right now, she wants to focus on learning MS Office. My question: Is there any good training on basic Office skills? The only thing that comes to mind is the "Video Professor" commercials I've seen on TV, and based on all of the horrible stories I've heard about them, I'm not inclined to fork over my credit card.

I'd like to give my mother some Office training for Christmas, since that's something she's been asking about for a long time. Any recommendations?

I guess you should sit with her and train her. So she gets 2 presents - time with you and office skills.

The e-learning solution MediaPlus from ENI is really really good.

My business school chose it for it's 600+ students each year and with remarkable results!

It has tutorials with videos, exercices, all built-in the software directly.

Some people are just used to learning from instruction manuals, my Grandma is like that. This one seems to be highly rated.

Without knowing exactly what your mother wants to do it's going to be difficult to recommend anything beyond the "MS Office for Dummies" level of training - which may well come over as insulting.

If you can find out what she wants to achieve - writing letters, managing her budget etc. then you should be able to find a more structured set of tutorials.
