Unfortunately for us Europeans (and all the other non-US) based people, services like Pandora aren't available.

So does anyone know a good alternative to Pandora, where you can listen to streaming music?

Preferably free and not restricted to certain countries. Spotify for instance would be awesome, but is only available in a couple of countries. Last.fm isn't free and Youtube has to take the music from certain videos or doesn't even show them.

Off course for some people Spotify IS a good suggestion, so Demian go ahead and leave it here – Ivo Flipse Jul 19 '09 at 13:11
It's hard to pick any answer as "accepted" with so few votes... – Ivo Flipse Jul 22 '09 at 7:07

Take a look at Grooveshark

It's not quite the same as Pandora, but great for streaming music.

Funny I found this again last week by a collegeau using it, I like it a lot! – Ivo Flipse Aug 26 '09 at 17:50
It does have a sort of Pandora-like radio feature (not sure when this was added... I think it was there last US summer). – Nathaniel Jan 28 '10 at 22:43

It's worth noting that last.fm is still free in some countries (UK, US and Germany).

Not, unfortunately for you, in Belgium though :\

Have you tried Lala? Although I'm unsure if it works in other countries (definitely worth a shot), I much prefer it to radio. It lets you pick the songs or artists (or albums) you want to listen to, and queue them. So you have much more control over what you listen to, but you can also let it do it's own thing as well

I haven't but I'm interested to see what Apple will do with it – Ivo Flipse Dec 22 '09 at 9:43

http://www.thesixtyone.com/ is good, although I am in the US so it may also be US-only.

Wolfgang´s vault

It´s not really the same as Pandora, but they have a nice library of concert recordings from mainly older bands.

Slacker Radio

March 15, 2007 - Slacker, Inc. today announced the creation of "Personal Radio," which enables U.S. consumers to customize their own radio stations and listen to them wherever they happen to be.

there's Deezer, which is nice, but not a real alternative for Pandora. On the other hand, it lets you keep playlists of your favorite songs and play them on demand... Better than nothing.

I use last.fm/.

How about We7? Unlike Pandora you can choose the exact song you want to listen to, don't think it does recommendations though.
