Yes, there are alternative keyboards, but I prefer a slimline keyboard with laptop-like keys. The Apple offering is just too expensive.

There is a good Kensington keyboard, but it has no USB ports for attaching thumb drive or other USB devices via the keyboard..

There has got to be something I am missing...

Rendered useless? Why not just buy a separate usb-hub if you need usb-ports on your desktop? – Svish Dec 22 '09 at 16:06

This question is way to general. Every single major USB and Bluetooth keyboard from major manufacturers work on the Apple Mac, even if it is not marked as such. Therefore this will end up being a list of every single keyboard made, and adds no value. – Diago Dec 22 '09 at 18:34

Why not just use a good USB PC keyboard on your Mac?

Do you have an example? – mmcglynn Dec 22 '09 at 15:55
@mmcglynn - since they all work on both platforms... find one you like and go with it :) – warren Dec 22 '09 at 16:27
