You can't simply upgrade your PC. You'd need install Win7 from scratch and then reinstall all your apps. I think that's backwards: If you happen to be reinstalling all your apps (e.g., you've getting a new PC) then it's a good opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7. |

You have not listed your computers specification so it makes it rather hard. Honestly, I would recommend Windows 7 to anyone with a Core 2 Duo and at least 2 GB of memory, otherwise your experience will not be that good. If you have under this, I would stick with XP. After this, the best features are Aero Snap and the Taskbar. I would personally try to download the Windows 7 VHD so you can play with it virtually. Next, if you have not used Vista, the Start Menu is a lot better and search is very good. For example, you can type the first few letters of a program and get to it quickly. Quite frankly, after this, a lot of the improvements are behind the scenes and things you will never see. In all honestly, it will most likely be slower, but it is progress! Most of the features you love, you will be using without realising. If you are getting a new computer, there is little reason not to use it, but to recommend an upgrade is very hard... and this is hard for me to say as an avid Windows 7 user! |

There are probably a million pages out there with reasons to upgrade. Everyone has different needs and expectations for their OS, I would suggest you grab a copy of the 90-day trial and install it in a virtual machine to see if there's anything that makes you want to upgrade. |
