One of my big visual complaints so far in my switch to Ubuntu is that everything is REALLY BIG. I've had to drop the font sizes down considerably. My problem is that I when I'm docked, my resolution is 1024x768, but undocked it's 1440x900. A font size that looks good on one is too big or too small on the other. Is there a way I can set preferences automatically based on the resolution? Or perhaps set them programatically -- I don't mind running a script....

Thanks!

P.S. Windows XP had "hardware profiles" with a 'docked' and 'undocked' profile. Something like that would be ideal!
