So I've finally gotten my life in order, bills are paid on time, cash flow stable, etc.

Now I'm starting to look for nifty and cool hardware that I would enjoy to have.

I'm trying to find a site that focuses on reviews of hardware for utility and purpose.

For example, the Vuzix Wrap 920 is something that I don't know where I heard about it, but I have not seen it mentioned on any website since.

Also, trying to find a tri-monitor display which I had seen before that had 3 arms attached to the corner of the desk allowing them to float and be rearranged.

Recommended laptop/desktops based on utility for business, etc.

Unfortunately, of all the sites I know of, I don't know any that compile lists or reviews of these cool items with a programmers or general power user perspective unless you're trying to go the gamer route.

Site's like Tom's Hardware have the problem of being to focused on the specs of hardware rather than utility of said hardware for specific tasks.

Essentially I'm looking for a website that when some new product comes out that is innovative and useful (and actually buyable) it will review it, or even just mention it. And possibly have comparisons of products (laptops/monitors etc) that focus on utility rather than aesthetics or gaming.

while I'd like to see the answers to this question, it really belongs on superuser – Malfist Dec 31 '09 at 20:18
Thanks, saw SuperUser awhile back and didn't make the connection when I wrote this. – Aequitarum Custos Dec 31 '09 at 20:31
So you want a recommendation on a website? – Jeff Atwood Dec 31 '09 at 20:32

i usually rely on http://gdgt.com, http://engadget.com, http://gizmodo.com, http://lifehacker.com and http://hunch.com. truthfully, the signal to noise ratios aren't great, but it's a start.

Very helpful, gizmodo I've heard of but never looked at, and gdgt and hunch I've never heard of but are just what I'm looking for! – Aequitarum Custos Jan 3 '10 at 0:33
throw the sites in your rss reader and it helps keep a pulse on technology... – yanokwa Jan 3 '10 at 16:54
