join driverguide.com (free registration required), porbably the largest driver collection in all of the interwebs.

p.s.: i just answered another question of yours. no matter how huge the collection, your old Intel 865 VGA adapter does not work with Windows 7, upgrade the graphics card.

I would never recommend downloading drivers from anyone except the original manufacturer. Many of those driver-search sites are really seedy and very likely malicious.

If the original manufacturer is out of business or no longer offers the driver, do a search for the device and make sure lots of people recommend the same file from a reputable site.

"I would never recommend downloading drivers from anyone except the original manufacturer." that might be good advice for current mainstream hardware, but manufacturers go belly up, others simply abandon legacy hardware. if you're dealing with such a scenario, sites like driverguide.com (which is around for over 15 years now) are a blessing. – Molly7244 Jan 3 '10 at 18:56

In case you find that you system is showing device driver error messages then it is sure that you are using outdated drivers or your device drivers are damaged. In order to fix this issue you require to complete free driver download and use updated graphics, video, audio drivers in the system to fix driver corruption issues.

For AMD the best point to get is amd.com, it has a huge list of available download drivers.

Maybe not the most practical advice, but the current Linux kernel supports many devices that have been abandoned by their makers, e.g. older HP printers and scanners.

Switch to Linux and 99% of driver problems just go away. Yeah, that's the reverse of the situation 10 years ago.

May I ask the reason for the downvote? – CarlF Jan 3 '10 at 19:29
you say it yourself, Maybe not the most practical advice; you're trying to get someone on another OS which is pointless in this kind of questions. You can post stuff like this better in a comment. – TutorialPoint Jan 4 '10 at 19:27
