When I'm going through my feeds on Google Reader, I usually open all the items that interest me in another tab. Once I've done this, I move from tab to tab and check out the content.

Currently, if I want to share something, I have to go back to Reader and find the article that I opened to click the share button. Is there a way to share the items through Reader after they've been opened?

Google has a bookmarklet for doing this.

If you're using Firefox, try Feedly.

It is an extension for Firefox that integrates with your Google Reader feeds and provides an enhanced (and completely different!) interface.

Among other things, it makes it easier to share items. It even inserts a little control bar in the bottom-right of each page you visit (if it has an RSS feed) that allows you to share the page, mark it for later reading (starring it), post to twitter, or email it. It's pretty sweet and totally seamlessly integrated with Google Reader, so you can switch between it and Google Reader as much as you like.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give Feedly a try. I chose arathorn's answer because you can use it across different browsers. – Nick McCowin Jul 21 '09 at 20:21
