Notepad replacement for writing poetry?

Requirements:

• associateable with .TXT
• justified text center (for poetry)
• real total fullscreen
• *open quicker than

Similar to: Jdarkroom, Q10, WriteMonkey

None of the above start fast enough on my netbook with an Atom processor. Any alternatives would be appreciated, though I feel I have expired my google-foo.

Similar to the ones you cited, there are:

Dark Room
This inspired the creation of Jdarkroom.
As a .Net application, it should start faster on your notebook.

Typewriter
Another (too?) minimalist writer application.
It also uses Java, and so may still be slow to start, but try it and see.

If you have enough RAM, you might also look into SuperFetch to control applications pre-loading to speedup their starting-time. See this thread.

Microsoft OneNote starts up very fast (less than 1s on my 3GHz P4 under Win7) and has a "full-screen" mode that gets rid of almost all screen chrome.

In Office 2010, every SKU includes one-note; in Office 2007, only the base SKU + Ultimate.

For poetry, OneNote might be nearly ideal, as it doesn't force you to write linearly, as does Notepad or Word - you can write text anywhere you like on the page and easily move/rearrange as needed.

You may be interested in abiword. It is like a lightweight version of MS Word and can do all you ask. It works very responsively even on the lowest-spec hardware and is available for most operating systems.

Try PSPad.

Opens really fast, and has justifiable center.
Works with .txt format.

The interface is very customizeable, you can disable nearly all of the menu from the View and Settings tabs.

The most powerful Notepad replacement that I have seen is undoubtedly Notepad++ plus new versions are available and it also has a portable version. You can also save in other formats. Above all it is open source!
