I'm using NVIDIA GT218 and unable to see my monitors in "Display Settings", following info might help

# lspci
00:02.0 Display controller: Intel Corporation Device 041e (rev 06)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [GeForce 210] (rev a2)

Primary display is connected on GT218 which is working but there is no display on Intel, interestingly Ctrl+Alt+F1 to F6 (tty displays) are working on Intel but not on NVIDIA.

# lshw -c video

  • As a temporary solution, I've connected both displays to same nVidia card using HDMI to VGA. It works flawless but I had to give up on onboard VGA as primary display. Additionally, Alt+Tab does not work with nVidia being primary display card. Jul 23, 2015 at 12:38
