my dad is teaching sports and now he wish to write a book. He has asked me to help him with drawings part, and more exactly to represents the poses in images. I was thinking that Poser is a good software to use, but it is pretty expensive.

Who can recommend me an alternative to the Poser software?

Take a look at Blender which is free and open source. You can use it with MakeHuman to create models.

Blender is great piece of software (with MakeHuman, like John T. said). You should also try Avimator as well.
