I recently heard about Clearwire -- Clear.com. The (apparently) wireless internet service provider.

I live near Chicago, IL. They are apparently available in my area and I'm considering switching from Comcast to Clear as the wireless anywhere seems nice. (Would I actually use it? I don't know.)

Moving on, I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences with Clear.com, positive or negative. I'd be looking at the "Pick 2 Unlimited***: Home & Mobile"

But, is the service solid? Is the service slow (compared to land-based internet) or do you get the speeds promised? I'll take info on any aspect as long as you have real experience with the company. I want to stay away from non-experienced based opinions, please.

If not too subjective: sounds like community wiki to me? – Arjan van Bentem Jan 12 at 19:56
Is closing this question on the basis of "too localized" in the overall best interest of your users? Then consider potential search results. Keep in mind that Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the states. – Frank Jan 12 at 20:13
I actually voted "Subjective". Not changing Super User into some forum is in our interest, I think. But luckily others could vote to reopen, if they wish so. – Arjan van Bentem Jan 12 at 20:46

@Frank - Consider that SU is worldwide, not just the US. Please read the description for too localized (hover over the text): not generally applicable to the worldwide audience of the internet – Diago Jan 12 at 22:05

This question would only be relevant to a small geographic area, a specific moment in time, or an extraordinarily narrow situation that is not generally applicable to the worldwide audience of the internet.

A friend of mine has it. I imagine the quality of service differs drastically based on location, the structure you're in, etc., but hers isn't very good. Significantly slower than cable/DSL, and they seem to block ports (including BitTorrent).
