I have a Lenovo G550 and I installed Ubuntu on it through Windows and I have no drivers. No sound, no wireless. I previously had installed it through Windows Vista with no problems at all. I now run Windows 7 and cannot seem to get it to function properly. I tried installing the recommended drivers to make sure the proper ones were installed and that still did nothing.

Any one have ANY idea what could be happening? I just don't feel like dealing with it.

You can install Ubuntu through Windows? I thought you had to boot from the Ubuntu DVD to install it. – skypecakes Jan 14 '10 at 5:27

Useful note: the amount of exclamation marks in a question produces an opposite proportional effect to the will people have to help you. You might feel desperate or angry, but you don't have to try to communicate that. Focus more on describing your exact problem with as many details as possible, and avoid sentences like "do it for me, I don't feel like dealing with it". I mean, if YOU are not involved to fix that, why complete strangers would? – Gnoupi Jan 14 '10 at 8:59

According to this wiki the laptop should be working fine with 9.10 (or any other modern distro). Maybe the installation is faulty, try to reinstall it. Also, the problem could be the 'in-windows' (wubi) installation, with Windows 7 screwing up everything. You ever considered a 'native' installation?

I could do a native installation, but that's not what I want to do. I want to keep my existing Win7 installation and use Ubuntu for my own pleasure. I use a lot of Windows software for work and need it. I think it has to do with how win7 deals with drivers and doesn't see acceptable drivers for networking. – Chris Apr 7 '10 at 18:19
