I am looking for a goal mapping application, so I add where I am now and where I want to be, as nodes, or similar, and then between them start to add different options or nodes. This would be similar to VUE or DIA con CONPENDIUM but I am looking for something that allows:

1- easily insert a new node bertween nodes 2- given a node, I can click on it and create inside a new map

Does such thing exist?

Thanks

Consider a Wiki. Each node is a page that can link to an arbitrary number of other pages. In many systems, new pages are treated as children of the existing page, which auto-generates a hierarchy for ease of navigation, and they provide tools for "moving" pages and section around in that hierarchy.

Some wikis, like Socialtext provide a lot of graphical representations of different aspects of the data.

My preferred wiki has been twiki, in part because of all the plug-ins available.

By far the easiest wiki to use, however, has been tiddlywiki. As a personal notepod/idea-pad, it has the advantage, in my opinion, of running in a browser without the need of creating a server.

If you are looking for an easy way to visualize what is going on in your mind, you might consider Mindmapping applications, such as Freemind.

Consider a text editor that enables folding. With a folding text editor, each "node" can be a named block that can be unfolded to show the details or folded to show only the named block. The named blocks can be nested, as well, so that you create a hierarchy of named blocks which fold up into a single label.
