I installed Ubuntu in my laptop with Wubi. I installed the one with 5 GB capacity. When I rebooted for the first time after installation its just getting switched off. What might be the reason? What should be done? Edit: The menu is getting displayed with XP and Ubuntu. When Ubuntu is selected, it goes in, some installation is done, but after that nothing happens. It just gets switched off. I tried with demo mode, normal mode also.

Dear, I think that the installation failed to install the grub to the hard disk. Do you see the Ubuntu boot menu or nothing ? Best Regards

i downloaded Ubuntu and was hoping to start using it yesterday but i just couldn't get it started!! i searched almost everything about my problem but still can't find anything usefull... i downloaded Ubuntu from the website,, downloaded the 9.10 version,, i didn't have any blank CD's so i tried installing Ubuntu using a flash memory,, i followed the step's 1 by 1 and got the computer to boot from the USB,, after i choose the USB it sends me to a black screen with a small-white Ubuntu logo in the middle that keeps flashing then suddenly stop's flashing and my computer freezes. i tried everything in the menu but couldn't get the logo to keep on flashing! i pressed Esc button at the beginning of an installation one and it switched me to DOS screen telling me what the installation is doing, i noticed that it stop's at a line saying no value set for * and it said something about notebooks-something/favorite_list and then my computer stop's responding.. everything just freezes and the only thing i can do is press the restart button on my computer case to make it go back to work! i tried everything and everything made me tired! i just want to try this Ubuntu but seems it already hates me!!!! please help me :( |
