Looking for online games to play with my girlfriend. (Nothing too in depth -- she's not a big gamer, so no MMORPGs, etc.). I thought it'd be easy to find something like UNO, Tetris, and so forth, but I don't know a good place. For whatever reason, the MSN games only work on IE7 or greater (or so they say). We both have Macs. Where would you recommend?

this should at least be a Community Wiki question. – ~quack Jan 17 at 3:26
Ah, didn't realize that asking about a Mac-compatible gaming site wouldn't be welcomed here. Where should I have gone instead? – Benjamin Oakes Jan 17 at 16:31

Take a look at Kongregate's multiplayer section - they have quite a few different ones.

However, If you want something a bit better (and possibly get in her good books!), buy two Nintendo DSs and a few casual multiplayer games.

I'm a huge fan of Jay is Games, which almost exclusively reviews casual games, right in the demographic that you are looking for. Here's a list of all the multiplayer games the site has reviewed.

My G/F's favorites are at/from Popcap Games (www.popcap.com), she was a big Tetris fan back in the day. :) Puzzle-type games there mostly, most cost like $20 to buy full versions of what they offer on-line for free, and for trial download. Never had any malware issues with them, and they've been around for a long time now.

Second Life is kind of a game, but kind of a social experience. It's fun making objects in-game and there are many "mini-games" like Zingo.

iSketch can be good fun. You could play in the same "room" as your girlfriend (i.e., against her and others), or on the same team (by huddling round the same computer).

The two games sites I visit regularly are the already-mentioned JayIsGames, and FreeGamesNews. But more than either of those, my favorite thing to do online is play Boggle at Weboggle ahem, sorry, Wordsplay.net.
