Does anyone have a suggestion for an open source application for tracking your hours while working? I'm doing some work on the side and thought this would be nice to have because sometimes I zone out and forget when I started or who I am.

You can check out Kimai http://www.kimai.org/en/ It is pretty raved about, but a little clunky.

Rachota is pretty nice I hear as well. It works on Windows/ Mac OSX/ and Linux. http://rachota.sourceforge.net/en/index.html

If you're on Windows, Grindstone 2 is also very nice:

Grindstone is a desktop application, produced by Epiforge Software, that allows users to create and organize tasks and to track time. It includes a range of other features that supplement this primary functionality. The software is currently offered as a free download for Microsoft Windows users. Epiforge Software has announced plans to release Grindstone on Mac OS, and a compliment to the software which would allow pooling data from multiple users.

I use taskcoach and I love it. It's hard to say exactly why, just that it has the features I want (like calculating project costs based on time) and it's easy to use.
