If you can't afford to buy either a good kitchen scale or a postal scale, how about this: place a ruler on a pencil so that it extends equally to either side, and tack paper cups to each end to create a crude balance. 18 US quarters weigh about 100g. Put 18 quarters in one cup, and then spoon enough toner into the other cup to balance out the quarters. Done! |

Find a tin pot ... measure its radius ... calculate the area, calculate the height that you need to fill with water to get exactly 100g. Put in a plastic cup, those things weight 3-5g, (that is a spoon of water) and use it as a counterweight. Or just find something that says mass=100g. There is a bunch of those things in every household today - starting from food to ... 3rd idea: use printer paper ... 500 papers weights (depending on paper) ... calculate how much of them you need for 100g. |
