The latest antivirus comparison from AV Comparatives is from December 2009. Pretty close to 2010, which has only started for 21 days as I write this.

I use AVG Free 9.0, but the other top contenders in all free antivirus reviews that I have read are:

  • Avira AntiVir Personal
  • Avast 5.0 - the gui finally got redone
  • Panda Cloud Antivirus
  • Avg Free
  • Microsoft Security Essentials

For Malware:

  • Spybot Search & Destroy
  • Malwarebytes' AntiMalware
  • SuperAntiSpyware
