Windows Home Server is a home server operating system from Microsoft. It is intended to be a solution for homes with multiple connected PCs to offer file sharing, automated backups, media streaming and remote access. The initial version of Windows Home Server (based on Windows Server 2003) was released in November 2007. A significantly updated version (based on Windows Server 2008) marketed as Windows Home Server 2011 was released in April 2011.
