I think the user was asking about finding a database stencil, rather than looking to generate a Visio document for an existing database. If that is correct, I believe the desired shape can be found under: File -> Shapes -> Flowchart -> Miscellaneous Flowchart Shapes Source: ...

The best I've been able to do is edit a master shape. Right-click the stencil that contains the shape(s) you want to edit, click Save As and give the stencil a useful name. Now the stencil is editable, woohoo! Right-click the shape whose defaults you want to change, select Edit master → Edit Master Shape and edit away. When you're done, close the ...

What you want is Layout and Routing. On the Design tab there is a section labeled Layout on the right. In the bottom right corner of that section is a small box with an arrow, if you click that you will get to Layout and Routing , and on the bottom, under Other, uncheck Move other shapes away on drop.

This can't easily be done, because Visio doesn't provide a nice .Copy method on the page object in Visio. This can be done through VBA, but it is not as straightforward as I think it should be. I'll paste some VBA code below that you can use by passing an array of filenames in that will copy in all pages in each of those documents. Note however it will not ...

On the Mac, I'm a big fan of OmniGraffle from The Omni Group. It has all the features you're looking for, and the pro version can even import and export visio files. There's also a website called Graffletopia (which, as a new user, I'm apparently not allowed to link to) that's full of user-contributed stencils and extras you can use.

I am a fan of OpenOffice Draw. Anyway, This page discusses a few - http://www.osalt.com/visio When I did my course at uni, we were encouraged to use Violet for UML modelling as a alternative to Visio, can't remember if it does what you need though! (I am unable to find it, but sure this has been asked before.)

Which version do you have? Because it's not included in all version. Standard : This edition does not include the Database Model Diagram template. Open up your diagram, and goto Database - Options - Document... on the menu bar. From there, access the Relationship tab. You need to enable the Cardinality option, which (making an assumption here from your first diagram) you will probably have to disable the Crows Feet option to be able to use. You set the numbers using the options within the Database ...

One way to do this is hold down the Control key and put your mouse over the edge of the "paper" space in Visio. The grip changes to resize shapes so you can modify the drawing size. Hope that helps. It seems there are many different ways to do this in Visio, but it's hard to use the one that sticks when it comes to printing...

Visio is incredibly powerful, complicated, and (IMO) well designed. It is not so much a vector graphics editor as it is a specification environment for diagram technique specific diagram editors. It shines when you need that capability. Dia is nothing like it. It is just a vector graphics editor with a superficial resemblance to Visio. You can indeed ...

I assume your sketches are in a bitmap format such as .jpg .png or .bmp And you want to convert this to a format where you can individually edit the components in the drawing such as lines, shapes, etc. rather than a painting tool which just works with the pixels. vectormagic.com converts bitmaps to the open w3c approved standard, SVG, Scaleable Vector ...

It appears that the stencils themselves only have basic color theming functionality unless they're designed to support the "interface". i.e. This page talks about the details. I agree about the clunkiness of it - I would guess it's a feature that can/should grow in usefulness over time. For example, I'd love it if the color blending would happen at the ...
