WARNING - Doing this on a remote server will completely kill the connection as soon as you untick this. I found out the hard way :(

comment Connect to Windows Server 2012 with valid client certificate only?
It is defiantly the right direction. To bad its such a nightmare to setup. It easier for me to write my own app that scans the event log and adds firewall rules against the attacker, than setup a certificate based login.. sigh

comment Create multiple zip files that are not dependent on each other?
You can extract the contents of part zips with no problem. Each part contains the full list though, so what will get extracted is hit and miss.

comment is it possible to toggle among different OS in a multi-boot PC without restart?
Install a base OS like Ubuntu or Windows Home Server. Use Virtual PC to install as many OS's as you like. You can then switch between OS's using the native OS, start others, create new ones, revert, etc.

comment Why does my laptop freeze up a few minutes after the power cable is disconnected?
Sometimes the vendor install weird power profile, accessible on the batter icon in the task bar. Try and select Always On or High performance and use advanced setting to tweak to your liking. Vendor power profiles can cause issues sometimes.

comment What is better oil for oiling fans: grapeseed or refined?
That is true but what is even worse using mineral oils for lubrication is a big no go. They attract dust, clump at low temperatures and dissolve in higher temperatures. This would just cause the fan to work for a while and then the OP would need to replace it because it will get ruined.

comment Crack a password and username on windows vista?
Yea Hirens boot CD can "clear" the password, disable and enable other accounts. Hirens also has cracking tools but it will take years on a standard computer to crack or brute a Windows password.

comment Crack a password and username on windows vista?
Cracking a password is more difficult. But using tools like Og Cuck, Hirens boot CD you can "disable" any password. Basically it clears the password from the password database file. No encrypted password = no password. This takes less than 3 minutes from boot to restart into desktop.

comment Can I shrink an NTFS partition running Windows 7 from the 'left' / 'start' side?
:) I updated the answer a bit. I just meant that GParted does not apply the necessary fixes to the partition is it get resized or shifted. SOmetimes it works sometimes not. This soft always worked for me, just like you said- without boot discs and stuff.

comment What is the right gauge wire for the incoming DSL phone line to my router?
@DanielRHicks Yea- Sorry I re read my comment. What I meant was the phone signal, when active, call or ringing, might cause interference with the LAN side. If just using for phone then yea sure- that should be fine. But mixing is not recommended.

comment DNS not solving correctly
What kind of routers are you using that you have to do that? Every router I had- I made sure that DHCP was enabled so the build in DNS server knew what computers connected to it. Also forget about static private IP's because that also messes up routers DNS. Some or stupid but newer routers have "preffered ip address" under DHCP- DNS works like a dream. I only used hosts files for testing live websites on debugging...

comment ZPOOL how to remove volume?
I don't use Dedup. I use ZFS because it was never supposed to corrupt any files.. and I did have one very important file corrupt :( but it seems because I was using Samba and the ZFS does not work correctly with it. Bummer

comment Can file system performance decrease if there is a very large number of files in a single directory (NTFS)?
You clearly never had to deal with a mail server before :) You need to write in your answer that if it gets maintained well (about 80% of systems admins don't do that) then there will be no problems. Besides your answer does not really talk about read/write performance and what disabling 8dot3 will do to affect performance. Neither is there hard facts that this does help. Sorry to be such pain.. but your answer needs improovement. -1 till you do so. Let me know

comment Can file system performance decrease if there is a very large number of files in a single directory (NTFS)?
Not entirely true. Have you ever tried to access a folder with 80k files (say bad email folder on a server) without any tweaks. You can wait a day before it enumerates.

comment Can file system performance decrease if there is a very large number of files in a single directory (NTFS)?
Yes. MSDN advices not to keep more than 20k files in a single directory. (Windows Vista 2gb Ram) - I have noticed when it starts to go over 40k (Windows 7 4gb Ram) it grinds to a halt. Everything just hangs and stops to work. But having 100k sub directories does not affect speed at all :)
