comment How to hide/unhide sheets by hiding/unhiding the sheet name in an index of sheet names?
This is really more a programming question, might want to try asking on StackOverflow.com.

@DanD., that's what I'm trying to do, but it doesn't seem to be possible.

comment Recycle Bin on SSD drive
I empty the recycle bin probably about 3-4 times a year. Whenever I do empty it, I always keep the most recent month. I can't think of a time I needed to recover something I deleted more than a month ago.

comment How to make Excel's “Auto Fit Row Height” feature actually auto fit the row height?
In the example I used for my question, I was at zoom = 100% the whole time. The problem occurred regardless.

I cannot duplicate this behavior. As soon as I do "Auto Fit Row Height", any manual height setting for that row is immediately replaced with the auto-fit height. The problem is simply that the auto-fit height is often wrong.

comment Use Macrium Reflect to Clone an SSD with three partitions to a larger SSD, expanding the middle partition
@Karan, I actually tried (1) cloning as is, (2) deleting the third partition using Disk Management, (3) expanding the second partition to all but 10 GB using Disk Management, and (4) cloning just the third partition using Macrium Reflect. I still get this: i.stack.imgur.com/9TP0v.png. So, it's still trying to put that third partition in the same location.

@Karan, good point, I reworded my question.

This really does seem to work. The one gray area is where you say "a little wider". One of the examples I tried didn't work unless I stretched the column a fair amount, but I did eventually get it to work. Thanks!

I can see how that would help, but it doesn't make any difference for the test case shown in my question.

I have no doubt you are correct, but then that's not "auto" anymore, it's manual.

comment How can I merge AVI movies at 16:10 aspect ratio and maintain the aspect ratio in the output?
I'm going to mark this as the answer for now, even though it's not what I ended up going with because I think Avidemux is likely the best free/inexpensive solution once you get past any issues with incompatible codecs (as pointed out by allquixotic). (See my answer for a different, more expensive solution.)

@allquixotic, Also, I'm not trying to create a "which app is best" war here. I just need one app that works.

yawhatever, thank you for your answer. I actually tried Avidemux already, but I couldn't get it to work. It kept crashing on me (maybe because my Windows machine is 64 bit?). And if Handbrake doesn't support merging (as slhck mentions), than it doesn't solve my problem either.

@allquixotic, I'm definitely on board with people editing my content, but could you please explain why you removed the last paragraph? The paragraph mentions that I was having crashing issues with Avidemux, so the answer I received, recommending that app, is not as helpful as it could have been. (Admittedly, yawhatever apparently didn't see that sentence anyway, but it would be nice to point out that I already tried that app.)

In case anyone wants to reproduce the example in my question, the width of column A is 17.15 (125 pixels).

Your steps are no different than what I already tried (double-clicking between rows is just a shortcut for "Auto Fit Row Height"). As for your theory that there is an extra character, you may be right, but I certainly didn't type one, and I wouldn't know how to get rid of it. I invite you to try typing the exact text as I have in my illustration into Excel and see if you get the same results.

Billy, finally got around to updating my Nvidia driver and Lenovo tools, but, unfortunately, it didn't solve my problem.
