comment Is there a tool that can determine the file type from containing data?
I do not understand why this question is off-topic (after 3 years). I do not ask for a specific software (i reworded my question to underline this). I just aks for a solution.

comment Is it possible to convert mts files to iso, burn them to a disk, and reverse the process later?
You can put the partial zip files on as many DVDs as you need. Just copy them all into one folder on your hard drive before unzipping them.

I prefer indexed color for logos, icons, typeface images. Everything else (mostly photos) is saved as RGB. I use GIF (256 colors) and JPG for RGB/8bit images. If I need transparency I use PNG 32 bit with alpha channel.

Photoshop IS superior to MS Paint. Adobe makes a lot of R&D regarding image processing.

comment QR Code designed for print?
You won't need a different service. For example, if you generate a PNG with, say 300px by 300px you can change the resolution to 300 dpi. The result will be printed 1 inch by 1 inch. That could already be enough for your purpose. Or, as afrazier spotted, 150 dpi would be enough, so you will get 2 inches by 2 inches. And so on.

comment What can I do to resolve low FPS problems on AMD Graphics?
Sadly, I do not know. However, I once had an HP Pavilion notebook. And if I remember correctly, I could choose different fan options in the BIOS. Like "always on" and "temperature controlled".

comment Losslessly compressing similar images?
GIF is not suitable for compressing photos, and animated GIF is even less. Even compressing photos to a MJPEG video does not seem useful in my eyes, because restoring single images would be difficult.

comment How to prevent HDD spin up during system shut down?
Thanks, that is comprehensible. Do you know if spinning up and spinning down immediately can harm the drive?

Where did you find the information that iCloud would sync with Windows Live Mail? The link only says that Outlook is needed.

comment Can I make Thunderbird load different email accounts one after the other instead of all at the same time?
Well I asked for Version 3, Thunderbird now is at Version 10. Thus, it might be that the behavior is different now. However, I now only have 1 account left in my Thunderbird (new job), so I can't check if it changed for me.

Thanks for helping. I already found the solution myself. It was a destroyed installation of Tera Copy.

comment Can no longer copy or move files
Ah okay, I understand. I already tried drag and drop, ctrl-c / ctrl-v and right-click-menu. I will try the menus too. I think we can exclude a network problem, because local drives are affected as well.

What do you need to know? I already posted that I did all the things above. They did not work. My shift key is not blocked (that's what I meant with "this is not the case here"). The only difference in your question that I can see is: paste the file into the same place where the original is. I just tried it: Nothing happened. No copy of the file was made, no error or warning was given.

I rate creating a new user account as worst case. And I don't want to believe that the profile is so heavily damaged that it can't be repaired ... I will try copying via the console as soon as it is possible.

Yes, there is an admin account. If I log in with that user, copy and move works.

No response at all, I edited my question. Sorry for not mentioning that.

Thanks for the hints. I forgot to mention that I already did both. Neither helped. Additionally, I successfully moved files on the network drive from a different pc.

comment Accessing IP cameras from outside network
Routers will route anything that is outside the LAN. What is outside is determined by the subnet mask. You should use LAN addresses with 192.168.x.y and usually you use 255.255.255.0 as subnet mask for a home LAN. Then, anything ouside 192.168.x will be routed outside the LAN. This must be configured in the network settings, but no router will route or not route traffic outside the LAN just because of the IP-address range 192.168.x.y.
