comment Stop Firefox YouTube from auto-loading videos (HTML5)
@TylerDurden Try one of the extensions I posted as an answer in that question. AFAIK, they will work whether YouTube uses Flash or HTML5 to show the video.

comment How to export a single Firefox extension(antivirus) as an installable xpi file?
What about FEBE didn't work? How did you backup the extension and what happens (include any error messages) when you try to back it up? Also, what's the name of the extension?

comment Change default code page of Windows console to UTF-8
@Regent In the question, the registry value you mentioned that worked for you is @chcp 65001>nul, while in this accepted answer, it is chcp 65001. What are the differences between the two?

comment How to prevent firefox from melting my CPU?
In the address bar, go to about:support, then click on 'Copy text to clipboard'. Edit your question and paste the contents or link to where you've pasted it. This is to help troubleshoot the issue.

comment A desktop Wiki editor/viewer: is there anything out there?
I would like to add that My Desktop Wiki (now known as My Wiki Editor) is now shareware, and not freeware. The version downloadable from its website is a 6-day trial version.

comment How to convert a multi-page PDF file to PNG files, with one PNG file per page of the PDF document?
If I'm not cropping any part of the original PDF file or converted PNG images, do I still need to use 'CropBox'? If yes, how does it help with the conversion process?

@Xavierjazz and subanki: Both addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6648 and addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1765 are now not available for download and are marked as having "been removed by its author".

comment What is AMD FUEL service?
"If you have an AMD CPU, this is what lets dynamic clock rates happen!" This doesn't seem to be true in my case. I have an AMD CPU and graphics card, disabled AMD Fuel service, checked my clock rates with Core Temp, and saw that they can run at the minimum CPU speeds just fine (not at full throttle and heat). I believe dynamic CPU clock rate settings are controlled by OS or BIOS settings, not video card drivers.

comment How do I edit the name of a custom search engine in Firefox?
The author has currently taken down the extension in Mozilla Add-ons, probably because it won't work with the new search bar in Firefox 34, unless you revert it to its old search bar functionality by setting browser.search.showOneOffButtons in about:config to 'false'. I've suggested an edit adding this info and edited the link to point instead to its Google Code page where it can still be downloaded.

comment How do I repair the corrupted files found by sfc /scannow? “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.”
This is only tangentially related to my question, and IMO, is more of a comment and less of an answer. But as a reply to your post, yes, I have indeed made a backup of my important files, and will be replacing the hard drive as soon as I am able to. My hard drive still has life left to it though, as I am still using it daily and no more bad sectors have arised.

@BigChris and niutech: This doesn't seem to work on Windows 7. I'm getting the ff. error message with the first command: Error: 87 — The restorehealth option is not recognized in this context. — For more information, refer to the help. — The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log Do you know the counterpart commands for Windows 7?
