Why can't I change the icon being displayed for a desktop shortcut? Probably not a caching issue either because there is no IconCache folder in my AppData\Local folder. The problem is also not Win7-64 related because I get exactly the same behaviour on a Win7-32 laptop as well. |

Why can't I change the icon being displayed for a desktop shortcut? I can't find an equivalent folder in Windows7, and restarting the machine didn't solve it. |

Why can't I create or pin a Folder to the Start menu? OK - 10 points for answering the exact question I asked. However, I now find that adding a Folder to the pinned area doesn't actually give me what I was looking for! In XP adding a folder to the start menu causes the items in the folder to appear as a dropdown menu - now in Win7 it opens an explorer window for the folder. Should I now ask another question? |

Where has the 'Open / Open All Users' option gone from the Windows 7 Start button? Yes, I deliberately asked and answered my own question because I found the answer as a side-effect of another question topic, and I figured this question/answer format would be helpful to the next person who asks. I did pause to consider for a moment before doing it, but this concept has been discussed on the podcast and approved. |
