Yes. It is working fine. Even if you are using Android Studio and Eclipse in same PC and want to share same sdk for both then also you can do it. Its my personal experience. Please let me know if you are facing issue in that. Will like to help you.

EveryServer have its IP or you can also give domain to your server. You can also find it in the network as i like seen in to the pic i have attached. Just select the sdk path from there and you will get it. And yes i dont know about how much it will be slow. But sure that it will be slow compare to local sdk path.
