I'm an electrical engineer that dabbles in programming and IT support for the small automation company I work at.

Does this mean your password is now stored in plaintext in the registry? Hmm.

comment Handbrake output directory to include Title folder
I have exactly the same problem as you - I ended up getting the Handbrake UI to crash because it kept adding multiple copies of the "source" tag until the filename was too long for Windows' directory structure rules.

comment How to disable Acrobat Reader's “Click-Scroll-Feature”?
This "feature" has been driving me bananas for years now and I've somehow never managed to find the option to turn it off until you posted this here. Thank you!

comment Does anyone know why my XP system displays weird login behaviour?
Next time this happens, try pressing your ctrl, alt, and shift keys one at a time (press, hold for a second, and release). Perhaps the state of one of the keys (most likely alt) is 'stuck' and causing you to type keyboard shortcuts instead of letters. Can't say I know how to fix it if this is the problem though...

comment Saitek Cyborg v7 keyboard muting with backspace button?
Have you tried it on a different computer? The keyboard could somehow be defective and sending the 'mute' keycode, in which case bringing it to another computer will show the same problem, or you could have some gummed up keyboard software installed on your PC.

comment How to get ∴ on a keyboard?
This symbol is Unicode +2234, but not all programs accept Unicode input by default. It also gets more complicated because the symbol is not in all fonts. If you check out the Character Map (Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Character Map) you can see that Arial does not contain U+2234 (symbols are sorted by unicode number) but Cambria Math does have it.

If you set the colours using the "theme colour" picker (the nice little grid of boxes when you chose a colour) the left column is based on your window colour, and then shaded in different levels. You need to explicitly pick white by clicking "more colours" and using the picker. This is confusing behaviour because the sample colour says "white", not "your window colour"... I changed my window colour to red and the first column is all shades of red and it explicitly says "red" in the tooltip.
