I have an app on the App Store called Musicthat. Check it out!

I've written these libraries:

  • NSTerminal: A little library to ease writting command line apps in Obj-C
  • libcondset: A C++ library that let's you pragmatically manipulate and serialize predicates.

I like to work with:

  • Ruby (off Rails)
  • Objective-C (Cocoa Touch, Cocoa)
  • Python (Google App Engine, Flask)
  • Common Lisp

And I'm familiar with C, a little C++, and some jQuery.

I'm a Linux user (as you can probably tell).

It should be. I voted for this to be migrated to Super User. The guys there should be able to give you a more concrete answer.

The linux partition is probably Ext3/Ext4. So if you connect the hardrive to linux computer, you'll be able to see the partition.

I know, but that's your problem. Just do a restart if you can. If you can't, try force unmounting the volume if you can. If not that, you can try killing through GDB.

Hold don. There is something very wrong with the problem line. You're trying to set the offset to -19. That's not right. I think that might even be an underflow, depending on underlying type. Change that to a sensible value and give it a try.

Hm. Very, very odd. What kind of storage medium is it, and are they custom drivers, or Linux drivers. (eg. is it SATA or PATA, or is it something odd and exotic)?

After reading the other question, I suspect the failing storage medium sleep. Can you launch another process (with a timeout) to see if the storage medium is failing?

Bizarre... It won't respond to kill -9? How about sudo kill -9?
