I am certain I am loading and editing the registry on the HDD.

comment Repair a Windows virtual HDD
I removed the registry entries but the VM still won't boot (and the entries repopulate). I assume I need to replace the entries with something meaningful so it doesn't automatically repopulate and crash. Also, I assume I may need to somehow add drivers for it to find on startup.

I have found a HirensCD image and booted into 'MiniXP'. I can access the virtual HDD but how do I set it up to not get the boot errors? As far as I can tell my MBR is ok but may have a problem with drivers (as the hardware has technically changed with the migration into the virtual machine)?

I didn't ask about SSD's as I am not considdering SSD's since I do use the laptop as a portable movie player.

comment Google calendar sync has stopped working
Opened Thunderbird today with no errors. Must have been Google! I'll blame them anyway.

I am running Thunderbird 14.0. Using the syntax below, I get the output '0[e0f140]: autosync paused'. I cannot be more detailed than that as that is all the output file contains.

Yes, it continually asks to enter the user name and password. I am currently logged into Win7, can give Ubuntu a go when I am able to reset my system (I have processes running I cannot interrupt). I can log into Google Calendar via the web interface with no problem. I do not get any error messages - just keeps asking to confirm the login.
