comment Why does my mouse's LED not turn off when I shut down the PC?
@Shinrai, I agree with your original point: it does no harm. However I've read that the little bit of energy used on the sleeping computer, the laptop, the DVD player, the TV, and all those other electronics is actually adding up to a huge power drain that can be noticeable in even a single household. Perhaps most of us don't have sufficiently modern stuff, and many don't turn their electronics off at all. I have coins on the lights on the keyboard for my (turned-off) computer because the light it generates at night is enough to light up the room. (Guess I should turn it off at the strip!)

@Shinrai, unless, of course, you're interested in not wasting energy -- the amount we waste on ambient computer and electronic equipment really adds up.

On Custom, I can turn them on or off. So, if I make one thicker, the rest also are thicker, or else off completely. At least with Grid, I still get the gridlines. It seems like Custom would be what I want, but I'm just not seeing how to modify one of those lines to be thicker. Is that actually working for you? Maybe there is something wrong with my copy of Word.

If I choose Borders and Shading, and then Grid, I can adjust the thickness in a box around multiple or single rows. That will work, but isn't really what I wanted. I don't see a way to adjust JUST the bottom line thickness, without modifying or removing the other gridlines.

I'll suggest to my neighbor to try the newer adobe, if that's an option for her. Both of us use what our companies provide, and at least for me, upgrading on my own is simply not allowed.

If I surround the word with quotes, it finds nothing, because no words have quotes around them. That sounded like a good idea.

Adobe Reader 9 doesn't have an Edit > Advanced Search. Under Edit, it has Search, Search Results, and Preferences. Preferences has a Search category, but nothing about "Whole words only".

I'm using Acobe Reader 9, and I think she mentioned 9 as well.

It not only appears to be a real question, it has real answers. Which rather implies that it can be reasonably answered in its current form.

If they were truly designing, they would make it that way by default, but allow it to be changed. They "design", we learn to put up with it?
