I own Shaggy Frog Software, a software consulting company in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I specialize in cross-platform programming in C/C++/Java (Mac/Windows/Unix) and iOS development in Objective-C. I also do Web apps using HTML/CSS/JS/J2EE. I can set up and maintain SCMs, CI systems, and lots of other build-related stuff that other programmers find boring. I mostly use Perl, bash and Ant for scripting. I also like cake.

I write software. You should hire me.

Thanks for taking the time to write up your answer. Looks like bootmgr /RebuildBcd was the secret sauce in the end!

The adapter doesn't show up with ipconfig (I think that's what you meant). However, hostname.local in the browser URL bar worked like a charm. Thanks!

comment Expanded entries in Finder's list view reset
Different folders at different times. The Finder window is open the whole time, sometimes at the top of the heap, sometimes at the bottom, sometimes moved around the screen with a few others here and there. I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't some keyboard combo "collapse all folders" that I am unknowingly hitting.

Relaunched Finder. No change -- I still own the directory, .DS_Store still present, etc etc. I can't get the behaviour to occur when I want it to. It is intermittent.

Thanks for your answer. (1) I have permissions to the directories. If I expand a few disclosure triangles, close the window, and go back, it's still in the correct state. (2) I don't have that (3) I don't have that (4) This is a folder on a local volume.
